CHICAGO, IL -
At approximately 12:05 PM on Saturday, September 15,
2001, Lynne Wiora, a graduate student at DePaul University,
received a call from her roommate, Nadine Remington, a recent
graduate of the same school.
The two had just moved into a new apartment, and unpacking and
organizing the new space was, according to Ms. Wiora, "not moving
forward" as she had hoped.
In this call, Ms. Remington related to Ms. Wiora that she had been
unable to connect to the Internet from their phone line after
having attempted to do so several times. This amused
|
Ms. Wiora because she had been trying to "pull the
apartment together" during the day preceding this incident, and
was hoping Ms. Remington would continue the work on this
particular day.
Ms. Wiora was unable to continue the project herself due to
obligations to her MIS 682 coursework, as well her Options
and Futures class. Ms. Remington even went so far as to suggest
that Ms. Wiora had "done something" to the computer so that she
would not be able to access playsite.com to play spades and euchre.
When asked to respond to these accusations, Ms. Wiora simply stated
that she had "thought about doing something...maybe taking the
phone cord with me...so that she wouldn't be able to connect," but
had forgotten to do so.
While this event has not yet come to a conclusion, Ms. Wiora
clearly has high hopes for its eventual outcome. "I am just
hoping that this occurrence will at least end in some progress
in the new apartment."
*Note: I know that the assignment was to write about something
regarding the class, but this occurred while I was completing my
assignment and struck me as, no offense, more interesting. I'm
sure everyone else will also find it
fascinating.
(See #10 on my top ten list.)
