Oana Shawl

I’m going to start this blog the old-fashioned way: with an FO!

Oana ShawlPattern: Oana ShawlSource: Knitscene, Winter 2011
Yarn: ~435 yds Cascade Eco+ in Scarlet/8450 (~310 yds without the fringe)
Needles: US 10 1/2 (but probably should’ve gone up a size, since I’m a tight knitter)
Started: August 3, 2013
Finished: September 22, 2013

I’ve wanted to knit this shawl since I saw the pattern back in 2011. I bought the yarn at Stitches Midwest about a year later and it just sort of sat around. (I have a bit of an Eco Wool problem.) Over the past few months, all I’ve wanted to do is knit, so I finally went ahead and started on this. Plus, it would get one of the four-plus skeins of Eco Wool/Eco+ out of my stash.

It was a great, and quick, knit. Of course, there were hundreds of pieces of fringe to cut, so this sat around for a while until my mom volunteered to cut them for me. She cut a little bit extra (~19 yds/10 g), but it was a huge help. I spent most of an evening attaching all the fringe with a crochet hook and I’m pretty happy with how it looks. I think it’ll be really cozy once colder weather hits. Starting a bulky-weight shawl in August in Chicago doesn’t really make a ton of sense. Ha!
